You'll never believe it! Samsung has just announced that they will no longer be supporting the Family Hub app on their high-end refrigerators running on TIZEN 6.0 Software and above. Instead, they are encouraging users to switch to the SmartThings app. But if you have a Family Hub fridge with TIZEN 4.0 Software or lower, don't fret - the old app will still be functional for you.
Users can continue to enjoy features like uploading pictures and videos with the Family Hub device plugin. However, for those interested in food-related features, they should explore the SmartThings Cooking Service Plugin which offers View Inside, Recipe recommendations, Meal Planner, Shopping List, and Food List. All of these features are available!
To utilize the app, you must grant it certain permissions. The app requires access to your contacts in order to offer services that involve linking accounts. Additionally, you can choose to allow access to your microphone for recording voice memos and using the whiteboard, as well as access to your storage for sharing photos and videos via the cloud.
In essence, Samsung no longer provides support for the Family Hub app on Family Hub refrigerators running TIZEN 6.0 Software or later. They suggest using the SmartThings app as an alternative. Users can still upload photos and videos through the Family Hub device plugin, and access food-related features in the SmartThings Cooking Service Plugin. The app requires specific permissions, such as access to contacts for account linking, and users have the option to grant access to their microphone and storage as well.
Keep your family connected.
