The exhibition at the Old Mine Centre for Science and Art focuses on Abakanowicz's career, showcasing many of her significant works that explore themes such as freedom, loss, resurrection, destruction, identity, and individuality. With over 100 sculptures on display, the exhibit aims to convey Abakanowicz's messages about Presence, Essence, and Identity. Known for constantly innovating in the world of sculpture, she revolutionized the art form with her fresh ideas. This exhibition follows the highly successful 2017 show in Wrocław titled Effigies of Life: A tribute to Magdalena Abakanowicz, which honors the friendship between Abakanowicz and curator Marius Hermansdorfer.

The items on display in the exhibition come from various collections, such as the artist's personal collection, the collection of Irmina Nazar and Artur Trawinski, the MARe Collection, and the NOWA 20_21 Collection. This exciting retrospective is taking place in a trendy industrial and public space that gives a completely unique atmosphere to viewing the artwork.
