Spectroid is an amazing tool that allows you to visualize the various frequencies in a song as it plays, with high resolution throughout all the frequencies.
? FAQ ?
Q: Why are the dB values negative?
Spectroid utilizes a measurement unit known as dBFS (Full Scale) to gauge the intensity of sound through a microphone. The scale ranges from 0 dB, which represents the maximum volume that can be measured, with any lower values being negative as they indicate sound levels below the peak volume.
Is it possible for me to zoom in on the spectrum plot?
A: Yes, do a two-finger pinch-to-zoom gesture.
Why do we observe strange gaps in the spectrum plot and waterfall display?
Spectroid utilizes multiple overlapping FFTs to enhance resolution for lower frequencies compared to using a single FFT. The trade-off is that it may affect the response and result in minor frequency gaps. However, it is able to create a spectrum that closely resembles how humans perceive audio. Nonetheless, it is unlikely to match the accuracy of our own ears.
Q: Can I export the spectrum data?
A: Hey, just a heads up, Spectroid won't transform your device into a highly accurate instrument. For more precise spectrum data, it's recommended to use an actual spectrum analyzer rather than depending on a phone app.
